The place doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside, but don't let that dissuade you. The food is probably the best I've had in winter haven, and the owner and staff where exceptionally friendly.

When I find a Hispanic place I like to try them just because I like to see them grow and be successful. Today I wasn't pleased. First, Overpriced food. Flavor wise, nothing to die for so I do not understand why so expensive. Then, the heat. This place is a warehouse converted in restaurant so today that temps outside are in the 90s I felt the heat inside. The a/c is not enough for the size of the building. Soo hot that I ended grabbing my food and leaving. My suggestion for the owners, reduce prices or at least increase portions. Hispanic restaurants are either more affordable or serve enough to take some home or share, but honestly $10 for rice and beans... Not in Polk county! Fix the a/c issue, it's annoying to eat indoor and sweat like if you were outside. I wish you the best, but I don't think I will be back.

We came in late after a swim meet (7:30...) the food was great, we had chicken, ox tail, shreaded beef and beef steak. All of our food was well seasond and the service was great my wife, me and our two teenagers left happy and full.

The food is basically cafeteria-style, with pans of rice, beans, and meat in warmers waiting for you to order. You're given your choices on paper plates, then given a tray with silverware. I had white rice, habichuelas (red beans), maduros (fried sweet plantains), and fried pork with onions. Everything tasted exactly like it "should," the beans and rice especially reminded me of food my dad, uncle, and stepmom would make. The desserts were abundant and I wish I could have tried everything! I settled for the small tembleque (coconut custard) and my stepmom got a pudding cake with guava that I had one tantalizing bite of. I didn't get coffee but my dad approved. They also sell Puerto Rican and Cuban bread in a giant loaf for just $2. Definitely an awesome place worth working for (kinda hard to find; it's in an abandoned ice skating arena but there's a huge "Yes We're Open" banner above the door to help you find it).

Really love the food here. The pastry counter is very impressive and the quesito are delicious! I've had the Cuban sandwich, bistec de palomilla, lechon, and croquettes. All delicious. The coffee is hit or miss, depends on who is working the counter. Same with the breakfast. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich and got the wrong cheese and it wasn't pressed long enough; the geese was cold. I really hope more people try this place out, it's great!

Went to see how it was and was horrified--- husband ordered a steak sandwich and first of all it was pre-made the guy just popped it in the microwave yuck . I had to walk away ,I could not believe what he was doing right in front of us. Hubby ended up throwing it away. Can't believe he even paid for that. Can not comment about their food but after that I will not be going there again.

I would love to be able to give this a better review. But I cannot. Maybe it can be chalked up to a bad night, or that we arrived less than an hour before closing. We had a group of about 10. We went through the line and selected food. It was a good 30 minutes to get everyone through the line. Most of what I got was overcooked, dry, and/or tough. The ribs tasted good, very good, but the meat on the outside was like jerky tough. The sides were cold. The people were friendly and attentive. I admit to some trouble understanding them, but we managed. And their baked goods were very good. If the food was as good as other reviews suggest it normally is, then the price would have been a value. I will go back for another try, maybe during the day, or at least further from closing time and see if its any better then.

Very good place to go for authentic Spanish food. I had shrimp mofongo and it was very good. Prices are reasonable. Saturdays they have a whole roasted pork in display for you to see and cut fresh to eat. Also live music (romantic Spanish style ballads). Very entertaining . Place is usually not crowded.

Excelent location!! Most needed here in Winter Haven!! The food is delicious, the variety of pastries and deserts is just like being in Puerto Rico as well as the food. Really true to our culture. Strongly recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a real Caribbean food experience.

I have been here twice before doing take out and the food was good, three stars. Decided to sit and eat at a table this time. Ordered Carne Mechada (shredded beef), congri rice and potato salad - they were very short on sides, no plantanos or yucca or any other veg The beef was not shredded, but sliced with chorizo stuffed and potato salad lakes seasoning. To top it off the tray they put my food on was sticky and dirty. Beef was way over cooked. As I said, been here twice before for the pork which was very good

Ate there today and had 1/2 chicken and two sides of yellow rice. The chicken was very good and the rice was perfect. The place is really nice inside, not what I was expecting for something in the old Super Skates building. The atmosphere is nice, it feels a bit like what I would expect a Spanish market to be. It's very bright, it almost feels like your outdoors, but indoors. They are a bit off the beaten path but I will definitely be back, maybe tomorrow to see how their $4 breakfast with coffee is.
